The Suwannee River Camps

The launch at the Suannee River Valley KOA Campground was primitive at best.  We carried our boats down a switchback path and over a drop of several feet to get to the sand beach.  The pitch of the beach was very steep.  John and I placed our boats parallel to the river and watched them slip sideways toward the water with every piece of equipment we loaded.  Scott on the other hand placed his boat perpendicular to the river and had no problems.  This placement of his boat set up this “dry foot” launch.

Scott’s “Slide” Launch from the Suwannee River Valley Campground

Scott wanted to accomplish two things on this trip.  He wanted to camp without a tent (successful the first two nights on the river), and he wanted dry feet throughout (not at all successful).  Thus this launch from the steep beach at the Suwannee River Valley Campground.
