Pros : Compact, Comfortable Grip, Looks awesome on the PFD
Cons : Doesn't cut line
Best Uses : Cutting Cheese, Spreading Peanut Butter
I generally love NRS products. This knife is an exception! I bought it as a rescue knife to free myself or someone else from entanglement in deck lines and other gear should our sea kayaks capsize and we become trapped. On a recent trip on a friend's large powerboat I offered to back splice some deck lines. I pulled the co-pilot from my life vest to cut through the nylon line I was splicing. To my utter dismay, the knife would not, could not cut the line. I sliced and sawed with all my strength. It took minutes to cut through the line. If I had been trapped by line one quarter the size, I would have died before I could free myself. I have now lost all confidence in this knife as a rescue tool and will look for something that is razor sharp, safely encased and immediately available. And I will see if it will actually cut line before I entrust my life to it.
